How is Our Chocolate Made, A Taste of Thompson Chocolate

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH)- Today we're Cruisin' Connecticut to Meriden, home of Thompson Chocolates.

"Mr. Thompson founded the company in 1879, so we're in our 139th year of operating in Meriden. We've always been in Meriden." Jim Lewis, Owner and CEO.

Bob Lis is the COO and production manager:

"We're looking at one of four of our molding machines. This happens to be doing a flat product. We make 4,000-5,000 lbs. per shift on this machine. I've been here for 11 years. I don't even smell chocolate anymore."

There are over 100 employees, managing the intricate machines, and some even hand-wrapping the chocolates.

You can stop by Thompson's Factory Store to pick up those Valentine's treats for your sweetheart. Visit their store at 80 South Vine St, Meriden, CT 06451.
